Tunnel Collapse
Tunnel collapse is a common concern with many outdated structures such as storm drains, sewage tunnels or other type of older large drains or pipes. The collapse of a tunnel can be disastrous for property, budgets, and lives.
The problem is often widespread and difficult to deal with because many of our states and nations tunnels have been in place so long that they have been overbuilt by overhead structures that were never anticipated at the time of installation. Tunnels can collapse due to overbuilding of large structures, compromise from other installations, and lack of upkeep due to the cost of maintenance.
